Do you have alcohol dependence?

If you have 3+ of the below criteria in the past 12 months, then you meet the diagnosis (ICD 10) for Alcohol Dependence

• Difficulty controlling alcohol use
• Strong desire to drink alcohol (craving)
• Progressive neglect of alternate pleasures
• Increased amounts of alcohol required to achieve the desired effects
• Withdrawal symptoms on cessation or reduction of alcohol intake
• Persistence of alcohol use
Untreated, alcohol dependence runs a progressive or relapsing course, causing great harm both to the drinker and their loved ones.

Alcohol is associated with up to 80% of suicides, death from fire, half of murders and 30% of fatal road traffic accidents.
