Do you really know what a water stain is? Maybe your answer is no. Let us explain this. When you have dirty upholstery and you spill water droplets on it, then you will see the ring-like structure forming and expanding on the upholstery surface. The top upholstery cleaners in Canberra and our devoted staff of expert sofa cleaners understand the significance of regular sofa cleaning. This is called water stain. Basically, the water droplets highlight the presence of dirt and other particles. Now, what are you going to do to get rid of it?
Here Are Five Methods To Remove Water Stains From Your Upholstery:-
Using a clean cloth and vinegar
The first step is to try to blot the spillage when the fabric is still wet. Draw the water using a clean cloth until no more fluid can be pulled from the wet fabric. The more the cloth sucks the moisture, the higher the chances of removal of water stains.
Then, soak a cloth in vinegar. Pat the damp area with this cloth. Blot it around the stain and then towards the centre. It will prevent the stain from spreading. Do not rub much vinegar as it may damage your upholstery.
Again dab the damp area with another piece of cotton cloth rinsed with warm or lukewarm water. When the water rings will fade. Dry the surface with a hairdryer in a cool air mode, preferably.
Use of baking soda
Using baking soda is one of the effective ways of removing all kinds of stains. Clean the upholstery with a dry and clean cloth to get any kind of dust off from it. Sprinkle some baking soda and let it sit for at least fifteen to twenty minutes. Vacuum up the baking soda if any stains remain, use a clean cloth to remove it.
The magic of steam cleaning on a sofa
If your upholstered sofa can handle the use of steaming with the help of a steam cleaner then go for it in the first step. Fabric steamers and steam irons are the most effective method of removing stains from the couch. Steam loosens dirt and particles in the fibres of the upholstery. It also kills hidden bacteria and moulds instantly with the help of heat generated over 120 degrees.
Removal of water stain from fabric upholstery
If steaming or ironing does not help you in the removal of the mold stain from fabric upholstery then make a 50/50 solution of cold water and white vinegar. Damp a clean cloth and slightly blot the fabric. After 15 minutes, take a clean cloth and moist the area with warm water to remove any leftovers. Hang the fabric cover out to dry. It is essential to remember that water stains on fabric are best handled immediately, as once they have set in they can rarely be removed completely.
Wiping off the water stains from leather upholstery
If the beauty of your leather couch is spoiled by ugly white water rings, don’t lose hope. You can remove them by using a sponge and cold water. Wet the sponge and lightly rub the stain. Start from the centre of the water ring and move outwards. Once the leather becomes dry, apply the leather conditioner, and polish for a long-lasting time. You can also use normal shoe polish as a substitute for the conditioning of your leather upholstery.
